bigEE is bringing German know-how on Green and Energy Efficient Building techniques, technologies and policies as well as a comparison of energy efficiency in Chinese and German cities to China.
The KABEE - Qualification of Key Actors in the Building Energy Efficiency Sector -project, organised by the GIZ and funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, is assisting MoHURD (Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China) to effectively disseminate mainly German technological and process-related know-how related to climate protection and energy efficiency in buildings and cities in China.
As part of the cooperation between bigEE and KABEE Christopher Moore and Dr. Ralf Schüle contributed to a workshop series in September
For these workshops the GIZ was able to draw from the experiences and know how of bigEE, its workshop concept as well as the database of information and knowledge on energy efficiency in buildings helping to bridge the information gap in China.
In all sessions great interest was shown in German policies, technologies and know- how, such as that of the Passive House Standard. It was the general consensus that China is facing many of the same problems which Europe, in particular Germany, has faced and has much to learn from the path that Germany has taken in its “Energiewende”. It is hoped that from these workshops the applicability of European policies and technologies can be identified and adapted, where necessary, to the Chinese context.
